I feel like every time I REALLY enjoy a Jack Reacher novel, the next one in the series woefully disappoints me. the last book in the series, Bad Luck and Trouble, was everything I love in a Jack Reacher book. Nothing to Lose, by comparison, was everything I dislike. And yet I keep reading! Phooey.

Yet another fun Jack Reacher story. Short version - Jack comes into town, people bug him when they should just leave him alone and then they don't live to regret it.

The book aren't nearly as formulaic as I just made them sound. Steven King calls them the man version of chick-lit and he's right.

Usually love this series. This one was mediocre. Hopefully it is not a trend.

It was good.

Too wordy for my taste.

Will not be reading another

3.5. Didn't care for the fact that the book starts with him really being a brute and a bully. The mystery though was really good, with multiple lines, the major one I did figure out on my own, but I didn't get everything, so that was good. Most people should enjoy this well enough if they like the genre, or specifically Reacher.

At his best, Reacher is electrifying and a joy to read. This is Reacher at his worst. At no point in the novel is he presented with any real opposition or pushback-- he runs roughshod over a small Colorado town without breaking a sweat.

Definitely the most boring Reacher book I’ve read so far.

My one problem is what are the odds the ending actually happens today? Almost the same as winning the lottery, buying a Ferrari and meeting the current or previous Presidents of the United States within 24 hours.

Although, what makes Lee Child books interesting is he takes actual real work facts, hooks them up together somehow and creates a real "walk with Reacher" mystery. In this book, there isn't very much weapons talk and description like there is in the past, however, there are descriptions of US Army procedures as usual, bomb making, uranium, Iraq war facts, End-times christianity religious talk and AWOL soldiers.

You can get some topics to do some research on in this book if you're interested in reading facts Child reads before writing notes on the plot to his next book.

Although this book made sense in the beginning of the plot, it wasn't as good an ending as I wanted it to be. 4/5 stars.

Big brute kicks much ass.
