adored this. all the bisexual nerds should be all over this.
the language is inventive, hilarious, romantic. the characters are as lifelike as they could possibly be. the relationships read as genuine and realistic, the sort of friendships that are always teetering on the farthest edge of platonic. we all give our friends a kiss sometimes and share the love

Schloss Gripsholm - der Klassiker von Kurt Tucholsky aus dem Jahr 1931 - beschreibt in heiter-melancholischem Stil die Sommer-Reise eines (unverheirateten) Paares nach Schweden.

Mir hat das Buch gut gefallen: Die leichte Ironie, die vor allem in den Dialogen zu Tage kommt, immer wechselnd zwischen Hochdeutsch und Plattdeutsch, die Andeutung einer Dreiecksbeziehung (für die damalige Zeit doch Recht ungewöhnlich), ein wenig Gesellschaftskritik nett verpackt, und am Ende das ernste Thema, als das Paar mit viel Mut, Witz und Ausdauer ein Mädchen aus den Fängen einer sadistischen Heimleiterin rettet.

Ich habe die 1964 im Rowohlt Verlag veröffentlichte Ausgabe gelesen.

Die Sprache des Buches ist so holprig dass man überhaupt nicht in die Geschichte hineinkommt. Es liegt nicht am Alter des Buches, ich habe andere Bücher aus der gleichen Zeit oder älter ebenfalls gelesen und gemocht. Dies hier ist einfach nichts für mich.
