I truly, truly enjoy this series. I generally end up reading in one or two sittings! The characters continue to grow and progress and there are a lot of interesting elements/characters to keep you busy trying to figure things out.

I really hope this is the last of the series. It felt like a wrap up - the flashbacks, the slight foreshadowing at the end, characters moving on. Of course, if the author or publisher are feeling greedy from ratings and sales for this one, the series will go on. I feel that would be a mistake. I could possibly see an off-shoot series, based on one or more of the characters, but this haunted guesthouse series needs to end.
And I'd like to point out to the other reviews who refer to EJ Copperman as "she" - Copperman is a pen name for author Jeff Cohen (of the Aaron Tucker series). I'm actually surprised that anyone could think that these books were written by a woman. At no point in the series did I ever feel like this was written by a female.
Overall, I was "just ok" with this series - the guesthouse thing was ok, but I think the character of Melissa was too mature for her age. Allison had WAY too much lasting hate towards her ex and it got old and tired really fast. It was very distracting all through the series. Copperman/Cohen's habit of adding an unnecessary snarky description in the middle of a quoted conversation is very annoying. Maybe it would work once or twice, but it's all through all of the books. It is so distracting to me that I often have to go back and re-read the conversations again to keep track of seeing who is speaking and what they are saying. And overall, the picture Allison paints of people in New Jersey are really horrid. This is not the Stephanie Plum snark - this is unnecessarily rude.
There were a LOT of story lines in this book. More than usual, and it was a bit hard to keep track of them all, and lended even more to the feeling that this was the last book of the series, and was a wrap-up of the whole series. I would have rated up another star if the snark had been toned down. Even with all the story lines and the character developments, it was a good book. But the ex hate and the snark was just too much for me to rate it "I really liked it".

I have liked these series, with my first foray into more fantasty/spooky cosy mysteries, first encounter with e j copperman and the narrator Amanda ronconi who I think is really great at bringing the characters to life!
This one brings back the "swine" and his business dealings gone wrong. I usually get put off with "swine" heavy books in this series but I enjoyed this! It was great to see Melissa growing into a teenager and looking at her parents through new eyes rather than a child's.
This was one of the first in the series I thought really dragged? When I thought it was nearly over there was 2 and a half hours left. I did like the last 2 hours but was a bit dissatisfied with the ending?? Paul is usually so integral to the investigation and because he was more in his own world this book I felt his departure at the end didn't have the impact it should of? i know there are more books in the series, but if I had been reading/listening to this as it came out, I would have thought this was the end of the haunted guesthous and would have been disappointed!! I am unsure i have the capacity to carry on with this series because this book was hard to get through. Maybe if I have a break I will come back to it because I have enjoyed these books! i loved that Alison and her boyfriend got married! That was so lovely!

The latest in the haunted guesthouse series was pretty much what you would expect - Allison making snide comments, the ghosts doing their usual bits, etc...the mystery itself seemed almost a secondary part of the book since most of the focus was on Allison's ex-husband being back in town and the chaos that comes with that. Overall this would have been a 3 start, but I liked the ending so much I bumped it up. Kind of wish that this would be the last in the series as it's starting to feel like it's run its course, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

So Great!!!
I was hooked from the first page and couldn't put it down! I hope for many more adventures with Alison, Maxie, Paul and the rest of the cast!
