3.5, rounded up. It was still an interesting read, but it wasn’t as good as the first two. The mystery seemed a little bit easier to figure out, and while I normally enjoy how the author jumps between different perspectives, this one wasn’t as interesting. Normally, getting into “the killer’s mind” leaves me wanting to read more, but in this book it just felt like the same thoughts over and over again.

Wolfe does it again. I love how quick and witty the writing style is in this series. There are so many layers and clever clues threaded throughout. I had fun playing junior detective and many of my suspicions were correct while others were close. Sometimes being able to guess the twist ruins the plot, but it doesn’t feel that way for these cases. It’s exciting coming up with theories and seeing if you’re correct and how they all tie together. It’s clever and twisted with a hint of romance threaded in. The story is engaging and well thought out with the perfect amount of build up to the dramatic ending.

This book opens with the tragic death of Cheryl Coleman, mother of three girls. The four-year-old was found lying in her mother's blood, the eight-year-old is in shock and the sixteen-year-old is missing. Detective Kay Sharp has to get over her shock in order to locate the missing girl and to discover whoever murdered their mother. With Kay’s previous skills as a former FBI agent and behavioral analyst, she feels that she can get information out of the children once they get sufficient rest. More than that, Kay takes a very protective stance towards them.
The story shifts to a creepy, unnamed narrator who is talking to the "Mother" and is preparing to make a sacrifice. Will Julie, the 16-year-old, be the latest victim? Meanwhile, Kay’s partner Elliot Young has been assigned another case and is desperate to solve it. Could these cases possibly be connected despite how completely different they are at first glance?
This chilling story hit the ground running, continued at warp speed, and ended with a thrilling conclusion. The Angel Creek Girls is the third book in an exciting story. While mostly covering the cases that Kay has, her personal life peeks through. She is a strong protagonist, one who thinks on her feet and works with a great team no matter how difficult the case. I am eager for the next book in the series, and one of the things I have been enjoying in the strong connection between Kay and Elliot. I am excited to see where that goes.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

3rd Kat Sharpe book and I found this one rather average. Way to much on the budding romance. And the crime is a bit far fetched overall. How can there have been so many murders in such a small area without anyone noticing?
And BTW no one who lives here calls it San Fran.

a bit predictable but still worth the read
Maybe I just read too many serial killer books, but I saw the ending coming for a good while. I still very much enjoy watching Kay and Elliot unravel the mystery though and the will they or won’t they tension will keep me coming back for more if they’re written.

Sadly, I didn't love this (especially after loving the other two). The pacing was quite slow. All the drama was at the start. Detective Kay and Elliot just got lucky with their info. TOO MANY FREAKING CHARACTERS. And then ending with all the concrete/land/rain/mother nature stuff was just so far fetched and confusing.
