basically a serial killer’s manifesto, the beginning of this book was truly disturbed and i hated it.
it was interesting where in the story the author decided to finish writing, and some parts of the writing was nice but thats all the positives i can say.  yikes

My first Japanese translated novel!! I picked this up at a bookstore in Amsterdam from a blind date with a book, so I didn’t know what I was getting into besides teenaged boy angst, and man this delivered. The prose was so beautifully written and felt so palpable off the page. And is the main character a little pervy freak? Yes! But is it grounded and fascinating and complicated and compelling? Yes!! It lost me sometimes when it got super boat or fashion business heavy, but then it would get back to the family drama and I was invested. A nice little read.

Obsessed with this line “They had created in a single night a new situation and now it appeared to bewilder them.”

Thinking about glory!! Thinking about glory!!!!!

Update: Uh oh!! Just did a read of the author’s Wikipedia! Uh oh!! Yikes!!
