DNF - I enjoy a good rom-com, but this was so predictable I just couldn’t keep interested. The characters seemed one dimensional and the plot line too thin. Reminded me of the satirical TV show, The Royals, with Elizabeth Hurley. maybe if the setting had been a fictional country instead of England it would have worked for me.

I was just bored. The backstories seemed forced. The tension was lacking. The characters cliche. The romance dreadful. Not for me.

A cute and enjoyable read, but there were some flaws to the story. Christian and Clementine’s “love” came out of nowhere - I would have liked to have seen more of what actually led to their love instead of vague comments about how well they knew each other from the weeks they texted and has a few phone calls. I know this is fiction, but their relationship lacks a certain reality that I think takes away from the overall story.

With a royal wedding right around the corner, this book is the perfect book to get you in the mood. I am in love with Aven's modern take on falling in love with a prince storyline. It is light hearted, with a bit of drama thrown in. I love Clementine's quirkiness. I also liked how CP deals with his family issues and life after college. I really can't wait to see what Aven comes up with next.

I've been in a princess-reading mood, I guess, which has led me in some peculiar directions. Like, you know, this one. It's a fairytale story: random college student gets random message, random message turns into friendship, turns into romance...turns out that the guy messaging her is a prince.
It's pure princess fantasy, of course. But I'm reminded of [b:The Royal We|22875451|The Royal We|Heather Cocks|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1421107274s/22875451.jpg|42439906], and I can't help comparing this rather unfavourably to that: because in The Royal We, there's a tremendous amount of attention paid to the scrutiny that someone in this role (i.e., royal girlfriend) would face, from the royal family and from the public and from the press. Here it's sort of boiled down to 'Everybody loves you, Clemmie! You're a breath of fresh air and we're so pleased that you're changing the face of the monarchy! ...everyone except the queen, of course, but she's just a frigid bitch who only cares about power, so who cares about her?' Some odd disconnects: Christian (a.k.a. prince loverboy) gets really upset whenever Clementine does anything that might suggest that she's conforming to the monarchy's standards, but he's also low-key appalled when Clementine doesn't know that if the king is done with his meal, everyone else is to be done also. This disconnect would be fine...if it were acknowledged. Or...no, I'm not going to get into the brain tumour. Suffice it to say that it's a romanticised version of a royal romance, in which most possible lines of conflict are ignored in favour of evil bitchy queens and most arguments are resolved with 'the monarchy doesn't matter! Only you matter!'

this book had me squealing and laughing and crying from page one. I’m planning on majoring in art history so finally reading about a character who also shares a passion for art and history and just historic stuff in general made me so so sooo happy. christian is a dream man like so charismatic and sweet. I love them together.
what brought my rating up so high was definitely the twist on the classic romance genre. we are all used to the classic slowish burn, couple has some happy moments, conflict, breakup, makeup, the end. however, that’s not at all how it went in this book. it kept me on my toes and I LOVED it. I took of .25 bc of the “insta love” trope, bc while they had been talking over the phone, there wasn’t any awkwardness when they first met in person just very insta lovey? anyways, found family, royalty, COMMUNICATION, he calls her nicknames (yes, love is one of them) I’M OBSESSED

This story just wasn’t for me. I didn’t really click with these characters. It was rather blah. Here we have 2 characters, Clementine and CP who live an ocean apart but start texting and talking to each other daily. All the while she’s never seen his face. Doesn’t even know his name. Yet they fall in love. I mean I’m 18% through the book and it feels like it could end there. Here’s the bullet points of the plot so far:
*Get to know each other without ever meeting
*Fall head over heals with the guy without really knowing who he is
*He tells you who he is (a prince) and of course it’s all a lie and you are so heart broke over him you’ve been crying for 12 hrs
*The prince who’s desperately in love with you flies all the way from England to prove he is who he says
*they profess their undying love for each other and make love
Aaannnnddd scene. I mean what else is there? It had this feeling of being overly cheesy, sunshine and roses everything is perfect. I want some angst, drama, build up, SOMETHING!
