I read the 2nd one first and enjoyed it a little more. I got pretty frustrated with Doreen trying to figure out how to earn money after a toxic divorce...
Ummm Doreen... apply for a job!!! Seriously?!? Get a job. She even thought maybe the police could pay her for helping. Seriously Doreen?!? Seriously?
You even have internet, you can find a job online 🙄
Oh... and to figure out how to make coffee or use a stove... it's again called the internet!!!
body was the neighbor's brother she killed but her other brother (later body) didn't cover up well. Ella. She was afraid that it would uncover another dead body buried years before that Ella's mom had killed her husband because she thought he was cheating with Doreen's Nan.

I'm sorry. What did I just read? Very interesting and the plot twist at the end I never saw coming. However the epilogue wasn't needed, the first three pages were repetitive, repeating not only the introduction of the animals in the first chapter but also repeating itself. After that she notices fruit trees in the garden then starts talking about the male main character and it begins to repeat again, so I ended the book there. Otherwise a very interesting book

Mystery was great. I liked the overall story but the Main was beyond annoying to read. She was recently replaced by a younger barbie in a marriage where she was utterly useless. Doreen, the main character, can't even make herself coffee.
So Doreen finds a body part in her backyard and it leads to the discovery of a dead body. Instead of feeling ANYTHING even resembling empathy, all she can do is complain about how all the cops in her backyard are an inconvenience to her and how they are ruining the backyard by, you know, doing their jobs. THEN she wants to ignore police advice to leave the investigation alone, she wants to stick her nose in and is very surprised when there's a gun pointed at her. She's obviously not very bright either but what can ya do.

Great setting
It is a small community in Missions, that almost divorcee Doreen finds herself in after her Nan leaves her a house. But things take a turn in that quite neighborhood when she discovers a body in her garden.
I just kept on reading after that without bothering to pause. I love the cozy setting and absolutely adore the cover. Thaddeus is a charming character. And Doreen is a delight. I hope she doesn't get into trouble in the next book, or does she? Well, on my way to grab the next.

It was enjoyable. What I did not like was the constant mention of her husband and her constant struggle with everyday normal supplies like for example the gas stove.Other than that I enjoyed reading it.
