"Fear has been my lifelong companion, the friend I didn’t want but who never took the hint."

3.75 rounded up. ⭐ Three women, three connected stories all trying to solve their death before it happens. It may be too late for some, but each story takes on the knowledge of the previous death and gets closer to the truth.

The rule of three had a strong start, lost me in the middle, and won me back at the end. It's a dark book as is the nature of being surrounded by so much death, but I enjoyed trying to solve the mystery alongside our fmcs. The ending took me by surprise and I always love a sneaky twist.

This had a lot of potential and for me the execution just didn't quite work. However, I did feel that, as far as modern horror novels go, this one was tied up nicely and overall made sense. I think a lot of people will really enjoy this.

Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the ARC!

I completely understand the reviews of people saying the structure was disjointed and the pacing was off. I didn’t care for Amy and thought the dialogue in some parts were iffy at best, giving almost teen drama attempts at the balance of edgy and relatable.

However

Oh my god. When the threads started to get tied up and the big picture started forming it was exhilarating. I feel as though the manner of the late game twists almost acted as an apology for the disjointed structure as it fed into the “survival guide” journal aspect. The twists were fun and mostly believable but you were still left with questions in the end, as tends to be the case in life and with urban legends.

Overall i would have gave a 3.5 but a four also feels fair. The ending could have been elaborated more for my liking but somethings may be better left a mystery.

I was excited to read this one as the blurb sounded just my kind of book, but sadly it was not for me and after a couple of chapters I felt I had to DNF. The writing style seemed very YA and there just didn't appear to be the flow I like from a book.

This was so different than other books I've read! As soon as I finished it, I felt like "WTF did I just read?", but now that I've had time to think about it, I really liked this book! The story is told through 3 main POVs, and I enjoyed the feeling of dread and suspense throughout each section. The story moved slowly in some parts, and left me questioning everything in others. The ending was definitely done in a creative way, and this is one book that will probably live in my brain forever.

**I would definitely recommend that the author adds TW about suicide and self harm.

This book is so good I devoured it and it’s equally scary and fascinating and I’m not going to spoil it as it needs to be read but what an imagination this author has and a writing style that pulled me in from the first page and did not let go the whole time. Loved it.

I enjoyed this! The ending wraps everything up good. I like the writing style and the pacing. I would recommend this! Special Thank You to Sam Ripley, Atria Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
