This was my first book of Chelle’s and it was so good!! Betsy is fabulous!!! She’s the girl you want to hang out with and you know she’ll always have your back. The single-dad trope is generally one I avoided but this one was so good!! Wes was dealt a crappy deal but I loved the way he handled everything and of course he’s super swoony!!!!!!

What a wonderful start to Chelle Sloan’s small town series in Rolling Hills. She has packed it full of love, cuteness and heat.
Wes is a newly divorced Dad to 3 adorable children. In fact his separation happens at the beginning of the book. I felt that Chelle Sloan wrote this new relationship, that happens quite soon after the divorce, really well. Both Wes and Betsy have doubts and uncertainty over the timing of their attraction to each other, it felt thought out rather than rushed and rebound.
Both of them have baggage, feelings of not being good enough. I love that Betsy had the strength to deal with the relationships that were hurting her and put them behind her. Wes took a little longer and needed a little help but he got there. His grand gesture was really sweet.
I loved Betsy’s strength and confidence, although she had some doubts she followed her own path. Wes is an amazing Dad and you could see that he had done his best to be a wonderful husband to his ex.
I absolutely adored Wes’s children and the relationships they had with both Wes and Betsy. Wes’s group of friends are such a perfect balance of differences and similarities, quiet and loud support; I’m excited for the rest of the series and their stories.
Lots of little connections to previous series of Chelle Sloan’s which is really fun.

Chelle Sloan has become one of my favorite authors. She creates characters that are relatable and fun, complex and complicated, and can write a heck of plot! The One I Want is the beginning of a new series, set in Rolling Hills, Tennessee, spinning off of Thirst Trap.
Wes is retiring from football. And the day he announces it, he is blown another hit because his wife leaves him and their kids. Needless to say, he needs some help, and it comes in the form of Betsy, Wes's parent's new neighbor, who hits it off with the kids right away. To be fair, Wes and Betsy certainly hit it off from the beginning, as well! And while it doesn't seem to be the right time for them, some things are out of our control.
I absolutely loved Wes and Betsy! Wes is the epitome of what you hope a father would be, and that translates over to his relationship with Betsy, as well. I can't wait for more set in Rolling Hills!

It started promising but after like 30% it went downhill for me and I just didn't care about what happened

I absolutely loved this book. Betsy is a girl who her whole life she has been told she's not good enough and can't do things the "correct" way.. Until she moves to a small town where her best friend lives and starts working for her until a better opportunity comes knocking at her door from Wes. A pro football player who moved back to his hometown to be closer to his family after his wife serves him divorce papers and just leaves him and their 3 kids. Wes needed help with the kids and so his mom told him he should hire Betsy.
Tropes:

This book was so dang cute. I adored every single moment it. You know when you just feel all the giddy emotions and you tear up a little? Oh ya. I did that a lot during this book.
Betsy is a firecracker, and she is so amazing with the kids. I loved how much she cared and protected them. She built them up, and was always honest with them. I adored every moment of it. Wes is a smoking hot single daddy who clearly loves his kids. He was just so amazing with them, and everything they went through.
I cannot tell you how many cute and heartfelt moments there were, but I loved them all. I just wanted to squeeze and hug this book. Don't let the cute and heartfelt moments trick you because there was some down and dirty spice that had me fanning myself.
The ending had me crying happy tears. LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING?! That was the cutest f*cking thing.
