4.5 Astro-F***ING-Nomical CROWNS
Breaking Hollywood follows Gabe and Ava as they navigate being roomates, employee and employer, and their ever increasing attraction for one another, and Samantha Towle once again delivers a romantic comedy that is sweet, endearing, and, oh, so sexy.
Gabe seems to be your stereotypical Hollywood star - playboy, insanely attractive, and an abundance of confidence. Gabe's wit and humor, though, is what not only makes him stand out from other heroes but also makes him incredibly charming and irresistible. Throughout the novel, it is clear that Gabe has demons that he is escaping from and his behavior indicates how deeply they affect him, which just adds another layer to this seemingly devilish heartthrob. The final piece that will win over the hearts of readers is the way he loves Ava and the choices he makes to be a better person.
Ava is a little down on her luck in this book, which makes her endearing and relatable. What I love most about her character, though, is how she continues to carry an optimistic outlook on life, refusing to believe that all is lost. Like Gabe, her wit and humor are also incredible enticing and make me love her as a heroine.
This romantic comedy has it all. Readers will laugh at the antics of these two from the very first page, and their battle of wits only continues to entertain us while also building the insane physical and emotional chemistry between the two. As they move into relationship territory, readers will become enamored with them as a couple, and when conflict and climax develop, it hurts to see the betrayal and mistrust between them. The end of the story couldn't have been better as Samantha Towle gives us the happily-ever-after we desire while also showcasing the evolution of the main characters.
Breaking Hollywood is another must read from one of my favorite authors. She never diasspoints, and she certainly hasn't with this new romance.

It's no wonder that Samantha Towle is one of the best authors the romance world has and she has shown us why she is in this book, again.
She stayed true to her style by making Gabe an insufferable, loveable jerk and Eva... well, let's say that she's quirky? And hilarious and charmingly funny.
Throughout this funny and heartwarming read we encounter one of our favourite couples, Vaughn West and Charlotte Michaels from Wardrobe Malfunction, but they are certainly not the highlight of sidekicks, there's one four legged companion that is DEFINITELY not what you think. Gucci definitely is a welcome surprise and warms my heart... and warms up other people as well.
Eva and Gabe are the last people that should be paired up together, but theory is proven wrong when they come together thanks to Eva's heavy handle on her 'tank'.
But as light as Breaking Hollywood is, it also brings up many issues that run deeper than the ink on the pages, but also make us love Gabe and Eva as individuals as well as a couple.
Once you go Samantha Towle, you never go back... that's the saying, right?

A low-angst celebrity romance between a movie star and the woman who runs over his foot with her car.
I'd never heard the term, 'punching the starfish' - you learn something new every day.

the good: The narrators were great. The premise, though a bit far fetched, was cute and fun. And I loved the little bit of quirk we got to see in Ava. I mean the goat thing was adorable. And the heat between the two characters was fantastic. I was definitely rooting for them.
the not so good: I found the story to be a bit repetitive in a couple of different ways. First I struggled with the use of word choices, there was lots of repetition and it impacted my ability to enjoy certain scenes.
Secondly, Gabe pushed Ava away so many times. It was for a variety of reasons, but it kept happening and it got a bit old. And she was so quick to forgive him! Even when he was unnecessarily cruel to her. I wanted her to make him work for it a bit more. Show a little more self respect.
And his very obvious drinking problem felt like it was acknowledged as an after thought. I would have liked them to address it more.
So there was a lot of good elements going on, but all together it just didn't work for me.

I love any book Hollywood related, I love Samantha Towel's books, this was another perfect book for me from the title to the last page. Gabriel Evans and Ava get a very interesting story, I can add Gucci the pet goat, which is the best character ever. They both start falling for Gabriel, yes I did write that correctly. Gabriel may have a playboy reputation but his rule to never sleep with employees is strong, too bad Ava is one of them and he can't resist her. You will laugh and feel a roller-coaster of emotions while reading it, but it is a very enjoyable book.
