This beautifully illustrated children's book follows the lives of the mice dwelling in Brambly Hedge. It is a sweet, gentle set of stories perfect for reading aloud to young children.

The illustrations are everything - they really capture the imagination. Very cozy.

We loved this book. Along the same lines as Geraldine. Sweet stories about a group of mice.

I have watched Brambly Hedge cartoons before I read the book - I think animation is way better simply because it expands on the stories. I am not educated on the subject to know whether these stories are true originals or just shortened versions (because I do know you can find even shorter ones for younger readers!) but it feels like many stories in the book are missing an entire chapter - I was disappointed to find out that Wilfred did not get trapped under the snow in the Winter story and there wasn’t much about the bashful Mr Dusty trying to find courage to approach Miss Poppy (which to me was the sweetest part of the Summer story).

For those who are not familiar with other versions this book will offer a delightful read. Illustrations are sweet and cute in an old fashioned kind of way.

lighthearted relaxing
The stories are okay- meant for kids of course, so nothing too deep, but they are sweet, whimsical, old-fashioned.

But the illustrations are AMAZING. The detail in the seasonal wild plants, the cross-sections of houses built in trees, in boats, in sand dunes… I wish I had posters of all of them on my walls as a kid, I would have found something new each time I looked, and let my imagination cozily wander.
