Growth and wisdom

I'm reading the series for the fourth time. It still is exciting and awesome as it was the first time. Only now it includes anticipation. All those grand moments I know will come. The World building is excellent, the humor is infectious the characters are amazing and lovable. Even those who lose the path but then find it again

Stock full of action and plot twists. Plenty of characters to love and hate. Though sometimes it feels like there's too many characters to follow. It's still a great book. I absolutely recommend this series.

I absolutely loved this book. The series is great, but this is definitely the best book thus far. I just love how Butcher has layered in the complexity of the plot and has depicted such well defined character progression.

Tavi was just such a great character, the accidental and reluctant hero. I loved his fake it until you make it attitude. It was also nice that sometimes his success is due in part to luck, rather than just the result of begin super talented. His stunted magical ability has made him work smarter.

Clever Mr. Butcher ended this book on a perfect note. I don't want to give anything away, but, truly, well done, Sir.

These are really like potato chips. Butcher advances his young hero to inadvertent command of a legion, while keeping two other plot threads spinning out successfully against internal plotting and civil war. The high fantasy setting is just this side of campy, and the appealing message is that hard work and Roman engineering may well be better than lazy reliance on magic when repelling an invasion by giant, ferocious dog-people.

This is a fun, exciting, fantasy with a twist on magic that gives it more of a technical spin rather than a mystical slant. The author's skill in setting up incredibly dire circumstances with exhilarating victories.

Buckle up. Hold on. Breathe.

This book gripped my collar and took off running at a pace that left me up until 2am multiple days in a row tightly curled in a ball. So engaging and amazing. Thank you Jim for creating such an amazing world.
