Buddy read with Nana!
Wow, the Kazu Kibuishi's Amulet parallels just keep getting stronger. Except Amulet is good and idek what this was.
It was pretty. I'll give it that. The aesthetic is on point. I had no clue what was happening most of the time, but it sure was pretty. I could barely keep track of the characters, and almost everything that happened was pure self-indulgence. It really took me out of the narrative when certain large sea monsters were spouting certain words that sounded like something straight out of a drunk draft of [b:Nevernight|26114463|Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1)|Jay Kristoff|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1500688832i/26114463._SY75_.jpg|42805826] by Jay Kristoff.
Also, Corvin gives me ACOTAR x TOG vibes and I'd really rather not rn. The weird Freudian crap going on with Tuya is also very weird and very uncomfortable. Overall, this was just a mess and the next one better be good, because the last one was great.
But, I must admit, it was very pretty.

Such a solid series. It’s the third volume now, and I’m starting to get a real feel for the personalities, and (extremely important) the moralities of the main characters. We’re exploring backstory, deepening relationships and doing it all gorgeously. The art is a 5*! I’m very new to graphic novels and the majority of my reading is fantasy series but I sincerely applaud anyone who is out here buying comics, etc. by the chapter. It’s a little key thing in each chapter and such a tease… takes a while before the whole drama reveals itself.

This volume was a bit chaotic and I didn't quite grasp everything that was going on, but damn the art is so good I would give 5 stars only for it
