This installment in the In Death series just blew me away. It had everything. It brings up ethical questions relative to the case in this story and it highlights how close Eve and her team have become.

We are also reminded of Eve’s absolute resolve and tenacity in doing her job and doing it right. She is a straight arrow in her mission to speak for the victims. She is an admirable character who is flawed, but lovable.

There were a few times I teared up. I don’t tear up easily, so this was an auto five star read. When an author can bring me to be so involved that I viscerally react, I applaud that author.

This is one of the best series I’ve ever read and I highly recommend it. I don’t believe these books stand alone since there are character arcs for the primary and secondary characters that span multiple books. But reading this series is no hardship. It is a heartfelt, gritty, and fun ride!

CW: There are quite a few descriptions of violence
and murder that may be disturbing to some.
There are mentions of the sexual assault of minors, but nothing is described in detail.

I have been meaning to shelf this for a whole day. Anyways, it's just as I remember it; gun-slinging Eve and her perfect husband who gradually becomes more intolerable.

Why would a grieving mother talk about how hot Roarke is in HER SON'S FUNERAL?!

I liked the McNab/Peabody storyline. The side characters are good as always. The plot was clever and had me hooked, I hope it is brought up in the following books.
