The writing was not good in this book 🤷🏾‍♀️ both POVs sounded exactly the same and the relationship wasn’t progressing

Honestly not a lot happened. I think that the characters could have been more developed. I just did not feel super connected to any of them. And the fact that the big secret that Marcus is holding was revealed and resolved so quickly. It was a very quick read but nothing exciting.

Loved it

I went into this book blind, I didn't read the blurb but the cover caught my eye and I seen the word angsty, that was all I needed

I first read this book when Ava was indie published and I'm so excited for her and this book. This new edition has a new bonus chapter and some good edits. This is a good read. It gave me gossip girl vibes (minus the toxic relationships) with the rich old and new money aesthetics, tight-knit friend groups, and rich elites. The first 40 percent of it is a little slow because the author sets up the characters and their background. I liked that because it set up future characters well. Once the book gets very into the romance part it’s faster but it's still a slow burn.

Sloan the fmc Marcus the mmc and their two other siblings have been close friends until Marcus leaves them all after tragic events and goes to build his business. He’s back and he and Sloane's relationship starts rebuilding when they are in the same city together. Once the romance starts it gets spicy and I was here for it 🤭. This is the author's debut novel and I liked the diversity and how this was written. If you like contemporary romance books with diverse characters and rich people you should read this one. Thank you Ava and Avon for this arc!

Read if you like:
- Brother's best friend
- Rich fmc and mmc
- He falls first
- Billionaire romance
- Powerful fmc
-Indo-English fmc

.25 for the desi rep. The book wasn’t surprisingly cringey as I hoped it would be. However, it was an ultimate waste of my time and energy. Bland romance, written around tropes, one dimensional MCs, tailored for booktok crowd but my main problem is that it’s dragged, a lot. Nothing happens for majority of the book and when it does, I just couldn’t care less.

In short, I don’t care about this book or characters, shouldn’t have read it. Wasted my time.

I did not like the FMC. Sloan is a half Indian, half white heiress that has issues with her brother, Henry, since he's the heir. She was portrayed as hot tempered but it just came off as immature and dramatic. The MC, Marcus, is her brother's best friend and his brother, Xander, is her best friend. The friend group could have had so much potential but the plot fell flat. Marcus and Sloan definitely had a lot of build up and eventually good chemistry but I didn't like them as individuals. Their personalities were problematic and the conflicts were mundane. The second book is Henry's story but I have no interest in continuing.
