another great installment in the Cotton Malone series.
as I explain to most people, Steve Berry is like Dan Brown, but smart.
the audio version of this one was offered with a writer's edition that had the author chime in and give a bit of backstory on the historical references and their truthfulness. I found that to be incredibly interesting.

Excellent addition to the Cotton Malone series. Wonderful story, fantastic plot, and excellent flow to conclusion. More authors should take note of Mr. Berry’s ability to do so.

Finished The Lost Order by Steve Berry and loved it!! Cotton Malone has been hired by the head of the Smithsonian to find a treasure. The treasure was hidden by his great, great grandfather. Meanwhile former president Danny Daniels has stumbled onto a problem of his own. With a secret society, sentinels and clues hidden in plain sight the outcome of this treasure hunt could change the government and the United States forever. From the Smithsonian in Washington D.C., to Arkansas, and New Mexico the race is on to see who will find it first!!

I enjoyed learning more real facts and history, the strange love triangles were an unnecessary addition. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook from Macmillan that includes the Writer's Cut. It was really interesting to learn about parts of the book from the author himself, throughout the reading of the book.

This series keeps getting worse and yet I keep reading. I love the historical aspects but thought this plot was overly complicated. Many of the minor characters didn't feel realistic.
