For me, this book suffered from two issues: the over use of sarcasm/snark and the total over-protectiveness of Jordyn. It was shown over and over how she could more than take care of herself, yet she was practically kept under lock and key. It got annoying after awhile. I also started to wish that she could interact with others and not be so sarcastic. Just be serious for one freakin' minute. If it weren't for those two things, I would have really enjoyed the story.

Ha I love Jordyn, she's so snarky. I did not see that ending coming, can't wait to see where this will go in the next book. I liked Emrys (he can dish it right back to Jordyn :)) and all the other secondary characters as well.

1st read: 4 stars. Much better than the previous set. While I really liked the plot and action of the first set, this one I liked the character of Jordyn better as well as the grammar errors were reduced by 90% which made this one much more enjoyable to read.
2nd read: 2 or 3 stars. Funny how other stuff you've been reading influences your opinion of a book. I found Jordyn to be a typical, whiny, know-it-all teenager. The #1 most used word in the book was Jordyn ending all her statements with "I griped." Because yeah all she did was snype and complain.
The entire books is about her romance with Emrys so I should have looked at this as a YA para romance and not as a YA urban fantasy type.

So this book was not really what I was expecting.
Jordyn is pretty immature and has been labelled a bad-ass by mainly just herself. She just comes across as a little too confident and strolling into an arrogance outlook. Which is okay. It doesn't hurt that she has flaws just its a little bit crap that she is so powerful and awesome and yet so arrogant.
I don't dislike Jordyn to be honest, she is sort of funny and you can see how vulnerable she is regarding being an orphan and not remembering anything.
GAH, not sure at the moment if I want to continue on or not...

Not as much relationship building as I prefer, but still an interesting concept and unique characters. I will certainly read more in this series, (there better be more coming!) because with the way things ended, I need to know where they go from here.
A good 3 3/4 stars.

Wow! By the end of the book I couldn't put it down! This is my first read about daemons/daemon killers as far as I can remember. I'm thinking I need to read some other books to get some background info into this paranormal realm. While you get some information from this book, you mostly get Jordyn's story.
I did flip back and forth between this book and others more than I've ever done. I don't know that it was because I had difficulty getting into this book or just really had trouble settling on a book. I'm leaning toward the latter. But by the end of the story I was really wanting to find out what happened. I really want to know how Jordyn & Emrys relationship is going to work. I'd also like to know how you pronounce his name. :)
I believe I'm going to have to go buy the next book to keep reading their story. This will probably happen sooner than later. I really feel like there's more we don't know about Jordyn and maybe even Emrys.
