Another quick, fun read from Simon R. Green, easily completed in one day. I love the plots and characters so far, but sometimes John is just TSTL! I mean, really, he's still looking for information on his mother, even after what happened to Razor Eddie in the first book? This is, literally, stupidity of apocalyptic proportions XD

This one wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me. It was a solid read, but there were times when I had to make myself finish it.
One high note for me, was getting more of Susie's background. It felt a bit melodramatic. But, the whole series is, so it fits, kinda.
And we got more hints about the background of John's parents. I can't wait to find out more about his mother. And I wonder if there's more to Walker than meet's the eye. Or at least John's eyes.

This is the second in the Nightside series. I really enjoyed this adventure of John taylor & shotgun Suzie. They are on the hunt for the Unholy Grail. Along the way we get to know more about the mystery surrounding the identity of John's mother and his parents relationship. I really enjoyed the secondary characters of The Collector and Nasty Jack. This world is so strange and unusual. Love it!

I have had The Nightside Series on my TBR for YEARS! I finally got around to dusting them off and taking a walk on The Nightside. They are a somewhat gritty and darkish urban fantasy with paranormal and sci-fi elements- there is suspense, drama, and plenty of things that go bump in the night.
The series follow John Taylor, a Private Detective who has a reputation for ‘finding things that don’t want to be found”. So, what is The Nightside? It is a place (parallel/alternate reality) in London- but hidden to ‘normal’ Londoners; it is where you can find every imaginable paranormal/supernatural creature can be found, and much more. It’s "that square mile of Hell in the middle of the city where it's always three a.m. Where you can walk beside myths and drink with monsters. Where nothing is what it seems and everything is possible."
I have enjoyed my trip to The Nightside- I found it to have a bit of a noir, steampunk, supernatural feel to it- which I enjoyed. The books are all very quick and easy reads- they didn’t ‘blow me away’, but they definitely entertained!
Thank you, Mr. Green!

A quick and fluffy read set in the interesting supernatural London underground. Worth a look if you like urban fantasy and have a couple of hours to kill.

I have to admit that I love Simon R Green's work ever since I read the quirky Blue Moon Rising.
Green is adept at mixing fantasy, horror and humour into a fast packed read. Even though many of his books are series I never had any problems reading them as stand alone novels.
John Taylor has been requested to find the unholy Grail and with Suzie Shooter as his partner there is plenty of mayhem. The characters are great, well constructed the world is full of interest and believable.
It is easy to get lost in this book and it is just fun.
