This is one of my favorite children picture books in recent years. I've made it a point to read this book to as many children as I can. It has such a good message about adoption, and it so tugs on your heart strings. Children always come away so happy for Arfy.

Golden Sower nominee. Really liked it--good book for teaching empathy, but also for teaching design. Love the color palette and layout of every page. Super cute.

Letters from homeless Arfy begging the people of Butternut Street to be their dog. He even asks at the old, abandoned house. Told in letter form, Arfy highlights his best qualities, while the reader gets the sense of isolation, loneliness and longing to belong to a family that all abandoned animals probably feel. A great way to teach "adopt, don't shop," homelessness and makes you want to run out and adopt a dog!

It's rather sad, as everyone but the last reject him of course. But there's a happy ending.

Loved this story about Arfy, a dog that writes letters to houses on his street trying to convince the people they need him.
