James Patterson is one of the most read authors on the planet. Somehow, I had never read anything he wrote, so when I saw a book of his on a "free, take me" table, I decided to give it a shot.
It was, in a word, fine. Saving the World... is a young adult novel, aimed at readers in the Harry Potter age bracket, and I have to believe that it's probably a pretty awesome book for a tween. It has teenage romance, cool fight scenes, and blatantly obvious surprise twists that are exactly what you'd expect. The writing isn't bad, but it isn't good, either. It's clear that Patterson is a professional author.
I hadn't read any of the other books in the series, and that was fine. I was able to follow the simple plot and I never thought about tossing the book, so it was everything I expected and nothing else.
If you like Patterson, I assume you like this book. Also, if you are twelve, I assume you like this book. I don't have anything else, negative or positive, to say.
