AHHHH I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW!!!!
So after THAT reveal in the first book, the gang had gone their separate ways, but looking over their shoulders for a certain someone to show up. And show up, they did. Chelsea Dawson, a beautiful blonde 21-year old with over 50,000 followers on Instagram, disappears one night after arguing with her ex-boyfriend Jeff at a beach party. Suspicion soon falls on poor Jeff, but we know from the beginning he is not to blame. After Seneca and Maddox receive taunting messages from our old friend to come investigate, the Scooby Doo gang is back in business - the business of solving crimes with modern technology that is. Seriously, the amount of new fan-dangled tech that is mentioned in this book is crazy, from FitBits to drones to motion-detecting apps.
What I liked about this book was you knew who the kidnapper was from the beginning, but you didn't know what his name is. And he always seemed to be one step ahead of Seneca and co.
The cop investigating the kidnapping was sooooooooo frustrating. Why are cops in mystery books like this always so incompetent. For example,
So yeah, this book had me hooked from the beginning, and as stated at the beginning, I NEED THE THIRD BOOK RIGHT NOW!!

when Chelsea was discovered, and before taking statements, he said he just wanted them to skim over their story and get it over and done with asap. Like shouldn't you be looking into this as intently as possible??????So yeah, this book had me hooked from the beginning, and as stated at the beginning, I NEED THE THIRD BOOK RIGHT NOW!!

Typical Sara Shepard book. Weird continuity errors like the sun "just starting to rise" at the beginning of a chapter and then a couple hours of story-world time later "the sunrise was just beginning." This happens SO much in ALL her books. It's kind of like her signature. That and the fact that she must have a goal to learn and use one really good new synonym for every book she writes. Maybe she picks a rarely used word to use at the beginning and then uses it again later as a sort of call back.
I gguueessss it was because Brett is some kind of master of disguise or something? If that is the case (and what I would think would be a plot-critical detail) maybe mention that once or twice? Or ever?
Still though, Sara Shepard knows how to write supremely-suburban-white-girl-nonsense-suspense really well. Her books are consistantly inconsistent, and that is why I stick with them. My autocorrect just spelled "consistent" two different ways and that is hilarious so I'm not going to change it.
Oh and at one point she says that because it was raining the humidity was sucked out of the air or something? What?? Rain IS humidity? Like literally the most humidity possible?

Wtf was with them meeting someone and thinking he was fine, and then the next day or whatever, all of a sudden they're 100% convinced it was somehow magically Brett??? How?? You guys just met that guy and KNOW he isn't Brett. Wtf man.I gguueessss it was because Brett is some kind of master of disguise or something? This series really makes me want to scream 'ARE YOU AN IDIOT?!" about every couple of pages. Like, common, teens are not THIS stupid when it comes to solving crimes and such. Also, I don't know any guys that oogles at another guys abs js
I'm going to finish listening to the series because there's only one book left and I now need to know if they actually solve this whole mess or if they are just being dumb again. On the plus side, there wasn't as much drug-taking in this one :/

Not as good as the first, but fine. Just some good YA-mystery-romance action.

It sucked the fact that I didn’t remember much about the characters.
Also, the bad guy did everything and the rest was just there, they didn’t bring anything to the story.
