Honestly, you need to have read book one to really be interested in this or to really understand it. There’s a handy recap of events but it does all depend on you knowing the details to get much out of it.
I can’t give too much away about this, without spoiling book one. However, the teens in this are determined to solve the mystery left after book one. On this occasion we have a popular social media icon who disappears. We know what’s happened to her, but the question is will those trying to find her get there in time?
There’s nothing particularly wrong with this series so far but this book just felt messy.
Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for my review.

I received a free copy from Readers First.
A group of amateur sleuths find a case very similar to one they worked on before and thought they had solved. But it turns out that someone in their online sleuthing group had been leading them astray all along and he is back. He has kidnapped a young Instagram star and is challenging the group to find him before it is too late. Can they get the better of him this time?
This was a gripping read, i finished it in an afternoon, it's only 275 pages, but it was quite unputdownable with a great cliffhanger ending. Although this is the second in a series i don't think you need to have read the first one to be able to enjoy this (I hadn't but will definitely be checking it out now). This would make a great tv series, I'm sure someone will option the rights to it (if they haven't already) and have it out soon, i would be very interested in watching this too. Can't wait to find out what happens in the next book!

Follow me is the Follow-up novel in the Amateurs series by Sara Shepard. Seneca, Aerin, Maddox and Maddison reunite after suspisions lead them to believe that they know who is responsible for the dissapearance of Instagram it girl, Chelsea Dawson. Since they cannot go to the police, Chelsea's last hope lies on the groups hands. Will they find her in time?
I am a huge Sara Shepard fan so I jumped at the chance to read another one of her novels. I will try to review this as a seperate book, not making references to the Pretty Little liars series.
In this novel we have a new mystery involving an extremely smart killer, which I appreciated. There were a lot of plot twists, some of which the average person would not have seen coming. I really enjoyed the story and the romance aspect of it which was not the first priority andit shouldn't, because this is a mystery novel and I liked that more importance was given to the mystery part of it. I found the plot unrealistic at times, but for me that is not really a problem because it's a book, it's enjoyable and I don't mind a bit of exaggeration. The characters were likeable and the reading was easy and fun. I finished it in a couple of days. I also want to mention that I think Shepard's writting has improved througout the years.
Overall, this is an enjoyable read and I would recommend it to YA mystery fans!

“Hope all is well with you. I bet you’re wondering where I am, huh? I know you’ve been looking.”
When the letter arrives at Maddox’s doorstep, he knows Seneca was right, and the investigation is back underway. I’m going to keep things pretty vague in this review to avoid spoilers of the first book in the series but dang, “Follow Me” is a fantastic follow up to the already pretty high bar set by “The Amateurs”.
Sara Shepard does a great job early in the first pages of the book of giving the reader an up to date account of where our main character, Seneca Frazier, is now, and a very short summary of the events of book one, “The Amateurs”. Having read the first book months ago, with several books having been absorbed in the interim, the refresher was really helpful to have, and yet brief enough that it didn’t become tedious or patronising.
I really like the continuation of the story from the end of The Amateurs into this second book, Follow Me. The characters stay very true to their development from the first in the series, and keep a realistic sense of uncertainty about the conclusions taken from the first in the series. Seneca, as ever, is determined and head strong and confident she has it figured out; whereas Aerin is damaged, uncertain, and questioning of what has happened. Sara Shepard could have gone into this “gung ho” with the gang all out to get the perp and bring him down, but instead the approach from the beginning of the book is far more considered, with the emotions of what has taken place and the personalities of the characters we came to know in “The Amateurs” staying consistent. That is until the letter arrived, part of which is quoted at the beginning of the review, and all bets are off as the team reunite.
Although the character development stays true to that of The Amateurs and is developed further from early on in the book, something I was glad to see after the minimal character development in #1 was one of my gripes, the purpose and storyline to Follow Me takes a very different road to the first book. The Amateurs very much had all the key elements of an armchair murder mystery with enough clues along the way to follow the breadcrumbs and try to guess at what the final twist would be. The initial “solution” was the more obvious one but, without spoiling it too much for those who haven’t read it, the ending twist was one I definitely did not see coming. The twist that then sets up the continued series and takes the reader in a totally different direction from the more typical murder mystery story line. The initial plot line check list starts of traditionally - missing girl, witnesses, assumptions...the difference is we know from the beginning who the kidnapper is and that most likely the woman will not be found alive if the pattern is anything to go by. Rather than taking us down the road of a “whodunnit”, this series explores the psyche of the perpetrator, his relationship with the amateurs sleuths, and the journey they go on to try to bring him to justice.
The author takes us on much more of a journey in this book and takes the time to allow the character personalities to develop further as they mature into their roles, allowing the reader to become more immersed in the story from earlier in the book than was possible in the first book.
An advance warning of reading this book, however. Have the third and final part to this series ready and waiting as the ending is a major cliffhanger and one you will immediately want to dive into to find out what happens next. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading “Last Seen” next.

I loved this!
It was not as good as the first book but still AMAZING. Sara Shepard has such a beautiful way of writing. Every time I read one of her novels I feel a sense of "home". I can't wait for the next book!

Another classic Sara Shepard! I can never really bring myself to rate her books any lower than this because of how incredibly easy to read they are. I love speeding through and trying to figure out how it’ll end. I like that her newer series have taken on more twists so they’re not exactly the same as PLL.

I really loved this book and stayed on edge till the end! I'm fairly easy to please when it comes to reading and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I probably wouldn't read it again as I definitely won't forget the ending!
