I'll start by saying I read The Amateurs about a year ago, so I don't remember every single detail. However, the little details they mentioned/remembered throughout this book were enough to help me understand what they were talking about.
I enjoyed this book, not as much as I did the first one, but enjoyed it anyway. It's a light, quick read.
It's obviously a filler: Now the characters (the 'detectives') know who the killer is, and the whole plot revolves around them following up said killer's clues in order to find him and stopping him from killing again. Still, the mistery and feeling of... restlessness, for a lack of a better term, were good enough.
While I don't think this is Shepard's best book or story, I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading the next one(s) and finally learn the killer's motives and how this whole story finally wraps.

I was in a bit of a reading slump, and this was the perfect book to get me out of it. I could not put it down. This is a YA thriller, but it is as dark and twisty as some of the adult thrillers that have been topping bestseller lists of late. After reading the first book in this series, I was able to guess some of the plot twists, but there were still moments I was completely not expecting. My only complaint is now I have to wait for book 3! Thank you to NetGalley, and DisneyBook Group for the ARC!

Eh. I much prefer the first book in the series to this one. I liked not knowing who the killer was in the first book, as opposed to this one where there is “the killer you know.” The plot was okay, and the writing style was good. Overall an okay read.

This second installment was definitely better than the first. I feel like a lot of the cheesiness was still present and the characters are most definitely what you would call Amateurs. But they're getting better and will be able to prove it when the third installment comes out, because there's definitely going to be a third.

Are you kidding me?? I thought this was the second and last book! Now I have to go find the next one. I did not prepare myself for this, Sara!!
Anyway, this was a solid sequel. Of course, the first one was much better. Another girl is kidnapped at a town called Lafayette and she looks exactly like Helena. Maddox also receives a letter from Brett and the team goes to Lafayette to investigate the kidnapping and find Brett with really really high hopes of revenge.
Although, it's sort of nice that there's a third book cause I think the characters aren't that much developed yet. Looking forward to the next one!
