Whilst this was a slow burn, it was a good book. I did thoroughly enjoy the story of this whole trilogy.

Honestly, this is one of the best book series, I have ever read. It has amazing story telling, an exciting plot, some of the best worldbuilding and simply funny humor. Even though, it can be hard to read somtimes, due to how informative the story telling and writing is, once you get used to it, it is really a book, you cant put away. I recommend this series for anyone who likes even just a bit of fantasy and sci-fi.

If the writing style of this author didn't annoy me, I'd give this book and series four stars. Dragons versus the world in a make believe land. Ryan likes to center his chapters on the main characters going back and forth. Given there are maybe five characters of note, he will take each one in turn. His nasty and irksome habit is to end each chapter with something "about to happen." I call them cliff hangers. However, most outcomes are predictable once you get used to his story's theme.

This series of three books could have easily been one single book.

This trilogy has been a great fun to read. Filled with action and dragons and from the beginning I took a real liking to Clay and Lizanne.

I had the fortune to read the two first books before reading Ryan's Raven's Shadow books which turned out to be a let down. Had I read that trilogy before this one I probably would never had bothered with it. But this one is SO MUCH BETTER on every part. Great characters. Great plot. And did I mention dragons? So if you didn't find Raven's Shadow your cup of tea, there may still be a chance you will like this one.

Very good and entertaining series. Really enjoyed all three books, the characters, the setting and the plot. Ending felt a little bit rushed but otherwise it was an excellent read. Looking forward to the next thing Ryan writes.

A spectacular end to a helluva series! Deep, complex and conflicted characters with smooth as silk pacing and bombastic action. As the critics quote on the cover says, Mr. Ryan does a fantastic job melding so many different genres together and I loved his take on each one. From the super-solid steampunk naval theme to the dragon-riding, magic-slinging fantasy archetypes. The climatic ending really seals this series in the best way possible and bumps this set very high up on my list of favorite trilogies. Highly recommended for all!!

I was struggling between 2 and 3 stars... and decided to give it 3, because I really enjoy Anthony Ryan's writing style, it is rich and flows beautifully.

Unfortunately, the last book in the Draconis Memoria series was too underwhelming, weird, and rushed for my taste. All of three books are long so let's say that the buildup has been going on for quite some time. However, it seemed to me as if the author was in a hurry to end the series? At the end, I felt no connection whatsoever to the characters or their fates. Some of the relationships weren't even explored to the end, and trust me, reading more than 1500 pages only to come to a rushed and incomplete conclusion makes me really disappointed.
