A very cleverly written story. I started out already disliking Electra as that's what all the prior books had directed the reader towards feeling. Her sisters mostly described her as difficult and self centred.

However when she started to learn about her past I found that part of the story really gripping and I was desperate to keep reading about Cecily. And in time, I came to understand and like Electra too.

It was perhaps a little too "perfect" how one short stint in rehab managed to completely reform Electra (I'm not sure how realistic that is), but I also get that it was probably necessary to write it this way to get across the main elements of the story.

Another great chapter of the Seven Sisters saga.

I didn’t like this sister, based on my previous experiences of her in past books of this series. I wasn’t looking forward to hearing her side of the story. However, I was definitely wrong.

I recommend this series to readers who like historical fiction about strong women characters. I am excited to read the subsequent books and hope to find out about the missing Merope as well as to understand the mystery of Pa Salt.

Again, another very compelling read, although by now the familiar format of finding your purpose in life AND the love of your life is becoming a bit of a cliche. How many women genuinely have life fall in it’s place like this? However, in it’s defence, there are some very difficult issues and sensitivities in this book and I do think that on the whole they are handled very well. I am addicted to the books and while getting a little weary of the format… on to the next one!

felt like two books in one but not in a good way
large parts of the Elektra story were four or five stars but the rest was mostly two to three

I was pleasantly surprised by this story of Electra. She seemed to be the most misunderstood sister at first and I expecting great things. This story didn't blow me away as much as I was hoping to be honest, hence why it's not a full blown 5 stars. I loved the back story of Africa, and I was expecting Electra to go there at some point of the story and maybe meet someone there but instead finding her long lost family member in her home country and realising she was found there also was a little too... easy? Plus a little underwhelming for me personally I guess. It still made for a good story though, and I still enjoyed it.
