I picked this up to read the story The Garden of Forking Paths, after reading Fluke which references it several times. The book actually has five short stories in, but I found the title story the most interesting and memorable.
To me it feels like Le Carre x Sophie's World with a pinch of Piranesi. I'm enjoying that and would definitely read more Borges. I suspect I'd have to be in a mood to concentrate though, as there are a lot of ideas and weird things going on.

Very good and philosophical set of short stories - the titular 'Garden of Forking Paths' was my favourite, with its interesting and prescient exploration of time (times - "divergent, convergent, parallel"). There are many other evocative images and concepts in this collection that provide ample food for thought, and Borges is no doubt a very skilled writer (although I read him translated

Magical realism meets spy thriller. Borges beautifully blends a real-life setting with fictional characters set in World War 1, exploring themes of time, infinity, and labyrinths/mazes. It is the first work by Borges I have ever read, and I was instantly hooked - he has quickly become my favourite author! Thank to my Latin American Literature professor for introducing me to this wonderful story, and an amazing author.
