so we are following Sage who Lived in portland and owns a Coffee Cart with alot of help from her family . Sage has truly lived , and has traveled all over the world, even studied in different countries . The men in her life are all very successful and live fulfilling lives , and now its her time to shine . Until someone she does or doesn't know gets murdered in front of her food truck and she is determined to find out who it is . The book jumps all over the place , if you are a barista , or have a love for coffee this might be the book for you . I Would recommend this book to someone who wants a light read , not something they have to think about or really like analyze .
------
Not what I was expecting ; which could very well be why I rated it as low as I did .
The detail of this book was so strange . There was a RUSH of characters in the first few pages, with no background at all about the main character . We learn about her and her life through out the book . I do not think we ever even got to know how she became so well educated on coffee ?? . It felt childish and shallow like the book had no depth . I learned more about coffee pour overs , and how to pull the best shot of espresso more than It was about a death of a guy she " didnt know " . The police and detectives ( when they are in the book ) are all very unprofessional , the first encounter i almost closed the book and didnt even pick it back up , but I muscled through this one . We also never find out how her mom knows all these current events of her life after not being in it for 14 years , or why she messaged her right before David gets murdered in front of her Cart . I don't know it was .... Not for me ; but I was determined to finish the book , because I loved the cover so much that I bought the second one and I wont not give that once a chance . The other thing I TRULY didnt like one bit is that we go almost the whole book just following aimlessly this Sage around until about the last 10 pages where we find out who did it and its over in a blink of an eye . This was just bad writing if ill be honest and I am not looking forward to the next book -but would be nice if it had more depth and pulled me in more cuz this book left me on the surface .

I wasn’t blown away by it but clearly I enjoyed it as I read it in one evening and I do intend to read the other books in the series as they come out.

The characters are pretty good and there’s a good balance between characters to like and dislike. The writing is fairly good too and overall the plot is good, although it does feel like the mystery part gets forgotten for a little while.

I do wish that Harley, the best friend/business partner, was a bit more fleshed out/we got to know more about her backstory. I also wasn't a huge fan of the love triangle thing and I'm hoping that gets dropped in the next book.

The first in a series of cozy mysteries, this book is full of interesting characters. Sage opens up a coffee cart in a Portland Railroad Yard, owned by her Uncle. The other cart owners are anxious about the future of their leases, as business comes to a halt when a dead body is found at the Yard. Sage becomes a suspect, and through her attempts to clear her name, we find out more about Sage’s unconventional background. A good start to a mystery series, and I look forward to the next installment. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC.

There were way too many characters and lots of chapters that had nothing to do with the plot.

meh. it was kinda funny. it is set in portland and got a lot of that stuff right. I wouldn't recommend it outside Portland b/c without those local references, this book did not stand out in any way for me.

I like the idea of a cozy mystery even though I prefer guts and gore from regular thrillers, so I keep trying them to see if I can find a series I want to keep reading since most cozy mysteries are series.  They tend to be very formulaic, and I’m okay with that.  This mystery is definitely cozy and definitely formulaic — quick and easy read.
