Fresh Brewed Murder by Emmeline Duncan

2.0

so we are following Sage who Lived in portland and owns a Coffee Cart with alot of help from her family . Sage has truly lived , and has traveled all over the world, even studied in different countries . The men in her life are all very successful and live fulfilling lives , and now its her time to shine . Until someone she does or doesn't know gets murdered in front of her food truck and she is determined to find out who it is . The book jumps all over the place , if you are a barista , or have a love for coffee this might be the book for you . I Would recommend this book to someone who wants a light read , not something they have to think about or really like analyze .
------
Not what I was expecting ; which could very well be why I rated it as low as I did .
The detail of this book was so strange . There was a RUSH of characters in the first few pages, with no background at all about the main character . We learn about her and her life through out the book . I do not think we ever even got to know how she became so well educated on coffee ?? . It felt childish and shallow like the book had no depth . I learned more about coffee pour overs , and how to pull the best shot of espresso more than It was about a death of a guy she " didnt know " . The police and detectives ( when they are in the book ) are all very unprofessional , the first encounter i almost closed the book and didnt even pick it back up , but I muscled through this one . We also never find out how her mom knows all these current events of her life after not being in it for 14 years , or why she messaged her right before David gets murdered in front of her Cart . I don't know it was .... Not for me ; but I was determined to finish the book , because I loved the cover so much that I bought the second one and I wont not give that once a chance . The other thing I TRULY didnt like one bit is that we go almost the whole book just following aimlessly this Sage around until about the last 10 pages where we find out who did it and its over in a blink of an eye . This was just bad writing if ill be honest and I am not looking forward to the next book -but would be nice if it had more depth and pulled me in more cuz this book left me on the surface .
