I am not entirely sure what this novella is trying to convey. The ending confused me and I don't know what the context for the last part of the story is, whether it is a dream, a wish, a time in the future, or what? It certainly captures a mood though.

A very moving  short story, and beautifully written. Keegan says so much with so little. This first person narration from the child surprised me at first but it worked so well. The story would have been nothing without it.
A very quick read (1-2 hours) but one that will stick with you.
Look forward to reading more from Keegan.

I didn't want it to end... and then it did and wanted some more!
I love Keegan's stories, she writes of simole peopleand ordinary lives, but it makes it so real, that it touches you without being overly emotional.
Gem, that's what this book is!

I love reading Claire Keegan’s novels- she consistently hits the mark with beautiful prose and lovable characters that you root for at the end of every book.

Foster is no different. I cried a little at the end, which I can only hope turns out to be a happy ending for the characters involved. Keegan does a really great job of making you love her characters in few pages, which is very impressive.

I would have loved to have read more about the Kinsellas and how they spent their time with the narrator, but I also appreciate the concise nature of Keegan’s novels.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast, contemporary fiction read. I was able to read this in one sitting but still feel fulfilled by great writing and a beautiful story.
