I love reading Claire Keegan’s novels- she consistently hits the mark with beautiful prose and lovable characters that you root for at the end of every book.
Foster is no different. I cried a little at the end, which I can only hope turns out to be a happy ending for the characters involved. Keegan does a really great job of making you love her characters in few pages, which is very impressive.
I would have loved to have read more about the Kinsellas and how they spent their time with the narrator, but I also appreciate the concise nature of Keegan’s novels.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast, contemporary fiction read. I was able to read this in one sitting but still feel fulfilled by great writing and a beautiful story.

A stunning book. The grace is in the simplicity. It’s important to take this one slowly, like all Keegans work, to let it impact you. There’s a rhythm to her prose that draws you in quietly. Letting it linger will allow the work to go at its own pace.

I've been in the mood for a lot of quick short books, and I just happened to find this. I felt very nostalgic reading this, mostly because my childhood was a little similar to this. I liked it!

Beautifully wrought. Not a wasted word. Makes the reader feel intensely for the young protagonist. Just enough is hinted at about the world around her so the reader is actively engaged in constructing the story. I found myself holding my breath.
