Solid short story with beautiful imagery. I didn't know it was set in Ireland until reading the synopsis so I made different assumptions about the characters but I don't think it drew away from the story overall.

Wow! Short quick read but lovely, just lovely prose. Several noteworthy hi-lights. 4.5 stars. Only complaint is it ended too abrupt and I needed to know more!

Claire Keegan is just so good at painting vivid landscapes and deeply compelling characters. It is so impressive to see what she achieves in such a small amount of pages, this is a book that conjured up an entire world and a believable child’s pov. Full of heartbreak and longing and bittersweet joy, I just can’t get enough of how Keegan writes.
