Moved slower for me than the ADOW series as a whole but I loved the extra tidbits you get of Diana and Matthew while learning about Marcus’s past and Phoebe’s present.

I was disappointed with this new segment in the series. It was a bit (dare I say for a vampire/witch book) boring. A lot of history and not enough of of plot to keep me going. Barely three stars for me.

Goodness this book was boring! I love the All Souls series but this would never have been published if All Souls didn’t get a TV option. It’s just completely plotless.

I enjoyed this just as much as the others although American history doesn’t interest me quite as much.

It was truly lovely to revisit Diana, Matthew, and the rest of their family (or at least most of the rest of them -- I miss Gallowglass!). I really liked the triple storyline of Marcus' past, Diana and Matthew in the present, and Phoebe in the present. Her vampire infancy was fascinating, and a wonderful way to explore another aspect of vampires. I hope this is just the beginning of exploring more characters' backstories. Especially Gallowglass!

I love Marcus, & the extension of our fave Bishop-Clairmont de Clermonts. Unfortunately, what I didn't love is Phoebe. I found her parts of the novel dragged on for me, and I didn't find myself rooting for the gal.

Deborah Harkness weaves a captivating spell over me from page one every single time. Her writing is mesmerizing, fascinating, and just truly beautiful - every single word! You’ve done it again Deb - I absolutely loved it!!

Really enjoyed jumping back into this series - it was easy to pick up the storyline even though it had been a few years since I read the original trilogy
