Totally a trashy book, but good for trashy. Had alot about Native Americans in it that was interesting and gave the book a different spin.

not a bad story line, i loved reading about the Anasazi and their culture. the writing style was a bit lengthy and wordy, and the author tended to repeat herself...i've liked some of her other stories much better.

my sister had just moved out of the house when i read this, and it made me think of her. this was a good book, but a bit too mellow for my taste.

A ree-issue of a 1990s book Lowell published under a different name. Definitely before she had perfected her formula of romantic suspense - the characters are flat, motivations are murky. The only trademark Lowell visible here is the in-depth view of fashion and art-collecting/archeaology, which was the only thing that kept me reading.

Except for the Donovan series, Elizabeth Lowell tends to be more on my "miss" list for books. This is another one. Christ (only call my 'Christy' please) McKenna is a fashion journalist whose sister is a world famous model, but they haven't spoken in over twelve years. One day, a message pops up that Christy's sister would like to see her. Christy is hesitant but knows that the only reason Jo would contact her is if she were in desperate trouble. So she goes out to Colorado where she gets pulled into a game of smuggling, illegal artifacts and murder.

Pretty decent book that I received as part of The Ripped Bodice’s Blind Date promotion. Originally published in 1993 under the pen name of Elizabeth Lowell. Great use of the natural environment of the American Southwest.

Another strong thriller. Christy McKenna receives a call from her estranged sister asking for help and she is drawn into the landscape of her past and some ruthless men.

The message greeting fashion writer Christy McKenna fills her with apprehension. Twelve years have passed since she last heard from her estranged sister, the celebrated supermodel known to an admiring world as "Jo." It had been bad news then; it would be bad news now.

A desperate plea from the one person she cannot refuse is drawing Christy from Manhattan to the mysterious red-rock canyons of the Four Corners country -- but too late for Jo, who has vanished without a trace. Suddenly trapped in a world of perilous secrets, in a West she thought she'd escaped forever, Christy's only ally is the outlaw archaeologist Aaron Cain -- who could ultimately be a friend, a lover, or a threat -- as they chase a fortune in ancient Native American artifacts ... and the answers to a strange disappearance that could be the death of them all.
