I loved this. The writing style is simple but effective and very... just enjoyable. The setting is novel and magical, and every little tidbit you get about the world is so engaging. I liked the characters, the plot (though there were a few times that things didn't quite fit and it took me out of the story, I didn't mind too much, because magic), and the messages that were effectively delivered without being forced at all. I will absolutely be recommending this to everyone I know.

This story is unique in its plot, which I enjoyed. It had more horror elements than I expected, but they are definitely handled in a YA way. Actually, I didn't really like the main character's attitude towards the events that took place in the story. I thought she was reckless and put herself in harm's way intentionally in some moments. I found myself relating more to any of the characters around her that were worried about her safety. I also wish there was more world building done in this book, which I'm pretty certain is a standalone and not a series. It's super interesting to have ghosts, vampires, and faeries as part of an otherwise same United States, and I wish there had been more explanation or history included so I could understand how that society differed.

DNF—I really think this was supposed to be a middle grade book rather than YA. Not that it’s bad, it just wasn’t for me.

Audiobook.
I liked this book. The tone was slightly younger than I anticipated, but I did go into it fairly blind.

This was fun and magical. Some descriptions/explanations were so long, while others went by too quickly without enough information. I did enjoy the story, mystery, and relationships in it a lot.

This book is lovely. It's fun and funny and creative and intriguing and generally really wonderful. I loved all of the characters (except Lenore) and the history and wish this was a series. I at least want to read more set in this world, like ours but with magic and paranormal spookies. The mystery is really well written too and the plot is engaging even without the spunky Ellie to guide us through. Loved this one.

Em sap molt greu perquè té bons premis, però m’ha semblat poc adient per a lectors juvenils degut a cert desordre en el text i a una falta d’introducció clara des del principi, per presentar el món.
