Wow. That was even better than Flame and Sparrow. I have so many feelings to sort through about this book series as a whole but most can be summed up with I loved going on this wild ride. I still have so many questions about what’s next and am hoping we get more of everyone’s story. One of my favorite reads of the year so far, highly recommend!! Oh, and thanks for the ARC

read flame and sparrow earlier this year and i’ve been SO excited for ash and feather since. i was super lucky to get an arc for this and i was finally able to sit last night and binge it.
“every time i look in a mirror i’m bracing myself, afraid of what ill see, when does it end? when do i recognize the person staring back?”
ash and feather continues immediately after flame and sparrow, and karys is trying to figure out who she is after so much has changed in such a short amount of time as well as figure out how to use her powers ALL WHILE there is a war brewing.
“even in his dreams, he was still reaching for me. still choosing me”
dravyn. probably one of my favorite ever mmc’s. him calling her his miran-achth, being her biggest supporter, while also ready to burn the world down for her. also, he created moth and he deserves all the gold stars for that alone.
moth. 10000000/10 i smiled every time he was brought up
i loved this book SO much until the ending which i felt was very rushed. i was reading and i kept looking at the amount of time i had left and was wondering HOW i was going to be satisfied with the amount of minutes i supposedly had and i was really terrified to look how many pages i had left. it felt like this huge build up and then i had 30 minutes left and then everything happened and it just ended abruptly and i was SO sad it wasn’t a fulfilling ending for me. i was SEATED for so long until the very end i just want to emphasize that, but i just wanted a LITTLE bit more.

i was so thankful for this arc i love these characters and they are so special to me <3

I was so so so excited for this book after Flame & Sparrow!
The only reason it’s not a 5 star read for me was that the ending left me super unsatisfied

This book. What can I say, this book made me cry. I connected with Karys so much in this book because of mental health that I just wanted to hug her and cry with her and go to the kitchen and bake all the goods with her. READ THIS BOOK.
This was a perfect wrap up to the duology of the Court of Marr books, even with the ending being not what I expected, but I’m happy it happened anyways.
Thank you again SM Gaither for giving me the chance to read this ARC Copy of Ash & Feather. I loved it, and I’m going to be beginning for more stories from you!

Had the honor of reading the ARC for this book and wow it did not dissapoint.
We continue to follow in the story of Karys but we now get Dual POVs from Dravyn now which is just epic. Also they have a connection that continues to grow through out the book and intensifies. Seeing his love for her from his pov is amazing.
The plot unfolds so beautifully and you get all the feelings throughout. There is more world building too. Grief. Family encounters. So much love. Character growth.
And the ending was just perfect. I loved how theire story ended. So well wrapped up!

First, I’d like to thank S.M. Gaither for allowing me to read the ARC of this wonderful book and be a continual part of your street team! A special shoutout to Rachel for all the hardwork she did getting the ARC out to everyone and for all she does behind the scenes!
***Ash & Feather picks up immediately where Flame & Sparrow left off, so you MUST read F&S first.***
I had no doubt that this book would be phenomenal and would wrap up the duology perfectly and I was not wrong. While I’m always sad to see a book/series end, I also felt a myriad of other emotions throughout my read: cautious optimism, joy, annoyance, extreme frustration, sadness, joy, yearning, love, etc. Literally the entire gambit of emotions I felt the characters felt…Karys starts the book coming to terms with the events that happened at the end of book one on an emotional and physical level…Dravyn is also contending with the consequences of his actions…his fellow gods are pissed, his powers aren’t working properly, and things are initially a bit…weird between Him and Karys…but the love story between those two is beautiful and solid and because of this fact, these characters are able to develop as individuals and have individual storylines without it being a detriment to their relationship. It’s really refreshing to read a relationship where the characters are adults about things…
We do get to see some old favorite faces from book one. Moth, Zell, Mairu, Valas…and some of our not so favorite faces from book one…
I don’t want to give away any spoilers, because you just need to read this book/series for yourself. This is a story about self discovery, loyalty, sacrifice, redemption, and love.
Do yourself a favor and read this duology…then go read the Shadows & Crowns series.

First book was a bit better. Book 2 spent a lot of time inside the head of the FMC. I didn’t really see the intense OCD and anxiety in her character in book 1 - it was there for sure just not at this level. Book 2 really increased it though. It felt like time was very slow moving and dragged out yet a lot of travel and plot points happened without much character development. Just a lot of internal struggles and relationships that didn’t feel earned.
Once the plot got moving halfway through it didn’t stop. Lots of emotional frustration for the FMC and the gods continued to lack much in the ways of powers. I understand wanting to show the threat levels with the elves, but the runes and weapons that were so effectual against the gods were never explained so you never knew the rules of what would work and walk they could skirt around. Too many convenient work arounds etc.
Final scene was the last 10% of the book and it felt rushed. All the character development and revelations happened here. Ending was bittersweet and epilogue was strange.
