Ash and Feather by S.M. Gaither
5.0
First, I’d like to thank S.M. Gaither for allowing me to read the ARC of this wonderful book and be a continual part of your street team! A special shoutout to Rachel for all the hardwork she did getting the ARC out to everyone and for all she does behind the scenes!
***Ash & Feather picks up immediately where Flame & Sparrow left off, so you MUST read F&S first.***
I had no doubt that this book would be phenomenal and would wrap up the duology perfectly and I was not wrong. While I’m always sad to see a book/series end, I also felt a myriad of other emotions throughout my read: cautious optimism, joy, annoyance, extreme frustration, sadness, joy, yearning, love, etc. Literally the entire gambit of emotions I felt the characters felt…Karys starts the book coming to terms with the events that happened at the end of book one on an emotional and physical level…Dravyn is also contending with the consequences of his actions…his fellow gods are pissed, his powers aren’t working properly, and things are initially a bit…weird between Him and Karys…but the love story between those two is beautiful and solid and because of this fact, these characters are able to develop as individuals and have individual storylines without it being a detriment to their relationship. It’s really refreshing to read a relationship where the characters are adults about things…
We do get to see some old favorite faces from book one. Moth, Zell, Mairu, Valas…and some of our not so favorite faces from book one…
I don’t want to give away any spoilers, because you just need to read this book/series for yourself. This is a story about self discovery, loyalty, sacrifice, redemption, and love.
Do yourself a favor and read this duology…then go read the Shadows & Crowns series.
