THE WRITING SAVED THIS. IT TOOK WAAAAAAAY TOO LONG TO GET ANYWHERE WITH THE STORY AND FOCUSED A LOT OF INSECURITIES IN THE TECH WORLD MORE THAN THE PLOT. THE BIG STUFF HAPPENED WITH 70PAGES LEFT WHICH WOULD’VE MADE THIS MORE INTRIGUING. I WANTED TO LIKE IT BUT FELT RELIEVED IT WAS OVER.

I had read this author's debut Fraud Squad and was pleasantly surprised when I read the blurb for her sophmore novel was going to have a different take. Unfortunately, I don't think this book was for me. This is more character driven but with a lot more descriptions and dialogue instead of something more forward moving. I appreciated the honesty about being a woman of color in a area as intense as a start up but I was unfamiliar with this type of work setting as a whole.

Book was comically stereotypical especially in terms of people working in tech. Also some parts of the book seemed unbelievable eg. six figure salary at a tech start-up?? Couldn’t get past this and the writing style

Predictable. Also, if you’ve ever worked at a tech company, kinda cringey. The main character is aggressively naive.
