I realized too late this is YA and also not great. If you’re an adult I’d skip this. If you’re a young girl and love repetition and redundancy not to mention repetition and redundancy, give it a shot. But don’t forget, (how could you given its said 472 times) - “The cold will kill you first.”
This book is about a girl that refuses to die but also refuses to be rescued by consistently destroying her chances. I felt bad for the dog for being stuck with her.

I felt like I was there in the woods with Jess. Great book, but moved just a tad slowly for me.

Very interesting and different book... don’t know that I loved it but I also didn’t hate it

Randomly picked this up, and it was incredibly repetitive. The last half hour was suspenseful, though.

I was privileged to get a copy of this gripping survival novel by Kate Alice Marshall from Penguin's First to read. Although many will compare this novel to other classic survival novels, I feel as though it would be a disservice to this novel to be lumped in with others as it has distinctly different characteristics. The Protagonist is a young woman struggling with real world issues, death of a parent, reconnecting with an estranged one and new surroundings. That on it's own would make a great novel, but there is so much more to this novel. Could not put it down. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

SPOILERS

I love that this book keeps it real - things are not easy for the main character trying to survive having very little to no knowledge of survival. But the ending - I balled. Maybe because we just lost a dog in the last 2 weeks but why the dog? That is the worst - just let the dog live. But it kept it honest and he died a hero.
