Vanessa took awhile to grow on me compared to Shay and Audrey but holy shit this book did not disappoint at all!! You will have whiplash and hot flashes from all the emotional damage in this book but let me tell you it is so worth it. Can’t wait to see what happens next!!

I liked Vanessa, I truly felt for her. I also liked how the plot was switched up a little with the guys all being hesitant and not into it at the beginning. Nice!

I voluntarily received a copy of this ARC for review

This series is the first I’ve ever read of the “Reverse Harem” genre and I love it.
This book is just as great if not better than the first two. (Sometimes in series things get worse, but no, this one is good.)

The story keeps me interested and the steamy aspects of the novel are so very hot.

Vanessa has never really been loved. She was not the favorite child in her family, and then she was on her own for years trying to survive in a world where women are scarce, running from slavers and cannibals.

All she knows about Jacob’s Mill is that women are treated like queens and are given five husbands to protect them. Much to her dismay her lottery goes a bit strangely and she ends up with five men who want nothing to do with her initially.

Much like the other books in the series I find myself coming to really like all of the husbands equally. In this one it’s Camden – the former frat boy, Michael – a reporter with Sensory Processing Disorder, Ross – the sensitive “mama’s boy” of the identical red-headed twins who still aspires to qualify as an Eagle Scout, Riordan – the more wild twin who has a very strong sense of adventure, and Logan – a moody member of the security force still mourning his wife from before the Fall.

As a note about the characters – I have always appreciated how in this series there’s a rotating POV between the six of them.

I can’t wait for more installments in the series! I’m very interested to see where the story is going after all of the developments about the political situation in post-Fall Texas. That sentence may sound a little boring for a romance novel, but for me a good romance novel keeps me interested in a couple of aspects.

This book delivers with drama and romance while still somehow feeling believable. I say somehow because a five guy and one woman romance novel is not exactly your mother’s romance novel.

I actually liked the writing style a lot and found the month at a time time jumps were done pretty well - something that usually frustrates me.

Likeable FMC but kind of debatable for the rest of the harem. The point of the story is that they were an unusually and reluctantly formed group BUT I was waiting for the point where they all realised the value of their woman. At no point did they seem to have  the realisation of how lucky they were to have this 'rare' female in a dystopian world, who happened to love, cherish and fight for them.
Some of them are actively talking about leaving her or if it's worth it and if she prefers others in the harem months into the relationship when she's given them her body and soul AND saved their lives AND done nothing but love them.

The characters have a lot of flaws, that's certainly their charm, and they do somewhat evolve. But they generally only behave under the 'leader' of the harem which doesn't make you feel like you're dealing with adults.

Also this has the BIGGEST dead wife trope you'll ever read I'd imagine. I'd avoid if that's not your thing.
Wife is actually alive. MMC leaves FMC to go and find wife, then wife dies on page.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I don’t usually like post-apocalyptic stories but this focused less on the tragedy and more on the life of the characters. Just enough suspense to keep reading the series.

Literary Foreplay

I've read all the books in this series so far and I would say the second book is my favorite and this comes in at second place.

The plot moves forward quickly enough to keep my interest and has me unable to put the books down (I've finished all of them in around three days).
The x-rated scenes are steamy and not awkward to read. I would say they've definitely helped me personally in the bedroom. ;)
Goes beyond the normal played out dystopian novel tropes.
I will continue to read more of this series.

This author can truly right reverse harem books better than just about anyone else out there. So often, there is a tendency to make them cheesy or very fast with only the sex being the fiber that holds the story together. This series is definitely not one of those. There is hot steamy sex galore. There is a story with substance. Each of these stories in this series is standalone and can be read separately. I would advise you to read them all because the stories are that good.

The author creates a world that seems so realistic. I am not sure why this is "2.5" considering this is a 300-page book. This author does not scrimp on the details or speed things along just for the sake of the story. This incidentally is one of the many reasons that I love this author. This story was about Clan Washington and consisted of; Logan, Camden, Michael, Ross Riordan and Vanessa. Each of these men offered something uniquely there own to the marriage which gave the marriage additional depth. Vanessa was a scared girl juxtaposed with a warrior women. Her insecurities were valid. While this story was not my favorite of the three so far it still was very good. I didn't connect with the men the same way. Especially, Cam and Michael who seemed to fall short for me but not surprising considering the other three were pretty in control of holding my attention (especially Logan).

I cannot wait to see what this author does next in the next book. I will eagerly be waiting as I am sure it will be amazing. I am 100 percent invested in seeing how this new world plays out.
