The Heir by Frost Kay

This was a solid ending although very predictable. Seemed like there could have been more relationship building instead of the last 40 pages just ripping through everything. This book also made her seems stronger instead of constantly being described as badass and then her literally sucking at everything. Not sure if I'm interested in Thorn or Robyn enough to read the spin offs.

I was so ready for the climax of Tempest and Pyre's story. I wanted to see when and how it all happened. What I didn't like was that they spent so much of the book apart. I would have loved to have more of after the fighting. Also, it is pretty clean so we don't get all the deets on coupling and such.

It drove me crazy how Tempest would be so critical and push Pyre away and then once she was alone and thought about it would give him the benefit of the doubt or be willing to consider some other reasons that he does whatever he is doing. Also, this chick needs to just chill and stop acting because she is impatient and messes things up. It was also a bit frustrating that she finally decided marrying the king is a mistake. She also didn't seem as steathy as she kept saying being a Hound teaches her because the prince seemed to be onto her a lot.

All in all I did enjoy it.

needed more

I loved the story but like some of the other reviews said, I needed more of the budding romance between the 2 main characters

Amazing story and series. I was pulled in from the start. You must read in order to truly feel the wonder and complexity of this series. The third in the series that brings an end to the tale of Tempest and Pyre but this is not the end of the series. This book was riveting and no matter what you think will happen it is so much better. Beautifully written with one tough as nails female. Tempest is beautiful and deadly but has a heart of gold and will do anything to bring a better world to the kingdom she lives in. Then there is Pyre. He is mysterious and handsome. He will do what is right for his people even if it hurts him and what he wants. I so can’t wait to read the next book staring Thorn.

Ohhhhh.. I get it

Sorry author. I am slowwww on the uptake. So we have snow white, mulan, robin hood, there's more I know I'm not picking up on, but yeah, I get it. I loved it tbh. A whole twisty silly mess and I absolutely loved it.

The story surprised me in a good way. I liked seeing the relationship between Tempest and her love interest blossom. The series is definitely in need of a cover change or update in my opinion since they don't quite do Tempest's love interest justice with the way Frost Kay describes him in the book. The King was a total toad, but a pretty crafty villain and well written for a YA book. Also, I would love to see Kay write a spinoff for some of the characters in this book. I know book 4 is based on Thorn so I'm excited, but I'd like to see one for Damien (the sexy dragon shifter) along with others. My only a little annoyance is that we do figure out that Tempest has a living relative and I loved that! I wish we'd gotten that tidbit of information sooner! This was one of my pet peeves with book one. Glad to see her remedy that in this book and loved seeing the relationship between her uncles and her father foster.

Meh bit shit tbh. Quite slow. Nothin rlly happened until the last 1/3 and then bish bash bosh all over with.

That part where it goes four months later ?? What was that? “oh btw 2 of my family are dead, we’re dealing”?

Also so there’s no sex scenes for the entire 3 books but the entire epilogue is a poorly worded and repetitive sex scene. Idk whether to be happy or sad that it was the only hanky panky scene in the entire series.
