(updated) I messed up and chose the wrong book for my currently reading shelf XD (yes i do this more often that I'll admit too).
The rest of the story involves Rachel acclimating to life as a Vamp and them dealing with the Pudge issue.
I love that Etienne works on video games though, that's a plus! Creator of "BloodLust I & BloodLust II"
Spoiler
Rachel Garrett is a coroner who works nights at the morgue. Etienne Argeneau is a Vampire who keeps getting "killed" by his stalker - called Pudge. On his second trip to the morgue Pudge bursts through the doors with a gun and an ax and tries to cut off Etienne's head to finish the job - but Rachel jumps in front of Etienne and takes a direct hit with the ax. Etienne can't let Rachel die when she saved his life - so as Pudge flee's the room Etienne saves Rachel by giving her eternal life. The rest of the story involves Rachel acclimating to life as a Vamp and them dealing with the Pudge issue.

A fun entry in this series!
Etienne was fun. I laughed at his connection to Rachel and the fact that it kind of confused him at first. Even though there was some attraction, I also liked that he turned her at the morgue because she saved his life. Even though you kind of knew what way it was going to go, the fact that he was willing to make that choice was great. I laughed when he'd get jealous and everyone was like "so say something!" but he still couldn't figure out how to, since he was worried about Rachel wanting to stay.
Rachel was pretty great too. Even though it was a crazy situation and there was a body, I did think her choice to try and stop Pudge at the morgue shows a lot about who she was. Granted she probably should have tried a different angle to stop him but at the same time, there wasn't a lot of time to make a decision. Once she got over her initial trepidation(?) about things, I liked that she was more curious. I liked the tech talk that happened and how that was the way Rachel connected, but then the way she was able to start thinking about things on her own. Like the way she was able to get Etienne blood when Pudge showed up. I do wonder how she's going to handle her family when questions start flying though.
Since it was kind of a big deal, I wished there'd been a little more on Pudge and that connection. We got a few comments about how he'd kind of become obsessed after losing people but like, what made him think Etienne was a vamp in the first place? How'd he make that connection? I know there was a reference or two to Etienne's game but I just wish we'd gotten some explanations. Especially since once he got Rachel to his place, it was clear just how far gone he really was and I feel like that was something that needed a little more.

What happens in this book? Nothing. A whole lot of nothing. Pudge was honestly the best character throughout the entire novel, the only one who actually caught my attention and was legitimately funny. Rachel and Etienne both lacked in personality and are forgettable characters. I wouldn’t ever bother rereading this book but I am intrigued enough by the Argeneau family to try other books in the series. Let’s hope that they’re better.

This is the second time I've read this book. I wanted to read recent books but couldn't quite remember the cast of characters because it's been years since I've read them.
I would say that I probably enjoyed it more when I first read it, but it was still a fun story coupled with a very different take on vampires.

Ettienne, is our family vampire this time to find his life mate. but not without the usual hurdles and some more unusual ones such as a mad man stalking you. and it's not everyday you end up in the morgue, but twice in a week?!
Ettienne and Rachel really go through a lot. but thankfully her acceptance is early on in the book.
Pudge is a confusing character. but I hope he doesn't return in any other book, I didn't like him.
oh and there is a slight spoiler in the epilogue of the book. but it is kind of a linkage to the next book.
