I really like this book, especially the last third! It got very spooky towards the end and I loved the elements of myth and storytelling. The themes of family trauma and trying to move forward from that also really resonated with me.

A.G Slaters writing is compelling and captivating. This was a wonderful read for me because of Mirrins  independence that is interwoven in the mythology of this book. I found this novel inspiring highly recommend it's a great read!

While I really enjoyed the narration, the book felt slow and drawn out in places and felt like it took overly long to get to the point.

Still, this was an enjoyable historical fantasy featuring merfolk and Gothic mansions.
