This was the best book I’ve read in a really long time.

Quick read. Love story/life story. Doris is old and dying. She is going back through her past and writing notes on her life for her great-niece Jenny. Doris is reliving her life via her Red Address Book. Her father had given her this book as a birthday when she was young. He told her to write down all the different people she met in her life in this book. I enjoyed the back and forth between past and present. The ending happened a little abruptly, but again maybe a sign I just want more of the story.

I really enjoyed the plot of this book but overall it never really took off for me. The characters are one dimensional, the descriptions are simple, and there are just too many . . . rescuers to make it believable. Don't get me wrong, it's entertaining, but it could have been so much more.

Poignant, tragic, heartwarming

This book was too short. The story of a life with many stories, too few of them told. It could have been a story with many volumes.

Mahtava ja mukaansatempaava tarina, joka oli kuitenkin hieman liian ennalta arvattava.

Good story but a little too cutesy and judgmental at times. Rolled my eyes several times.... Additionally, as a nurse, I found the portrayal of the nurses as incompetent, lazy, and drinking coffee insulting. Eh.
