I have to admit, it’s been a while since I’ve read a thriller and the last couple have fallen slightly short of the mark but that wasn’t the case with this book. It is a bit chunky at around the 400 page mark but it’s got really quick, short chapters which I always find helps to deliver a fast pace and get you engrossed in the story. Once I started this I found I didn’t want to put it down and kept looking for the next moment when I could read a bit more.
This isn’t a scary, gory or intense thriller but it does leave you wondering - it’s one of those where the author seems to be leading you in one direction which you know can’t be right so you start questioning everyone else. I have to admit that I didn’t figure it out until just before the truth was revealed and I do love that in a thriller! It keeps you on the edge of your seat because you’re trying to figure it out and read between the lines, there’s definitely more than a couple of secrets between the characters in this book!
Overall I really enjoyed this book and it has relit the spark that a good thriller can deliver, I think I’ll be reading a few more in the next few months for sure!!! Also want to say a big thanks to @michaeljbooks for sending me this stunning proof copy to read and review!

Very tense and gripping read, once it gets going it’s hard to put it down.
Plenty of twists and turns, right up to the last page which I enjoyed. Would definitely recommend and I will be looking out for more of the author’s work in future

Titulo: Feliz año nuevo
Autor: Malin Stehn

Lectura / Relectura: Lectura
Mi edicion: Electronico
Puntuacion: 2.5/5

It's new years eve and there are two parties happening. One attended by two best friends and one hosted by their daughters. When Jennifer doesn't return home and is reported missing, the search begins. Friendships and relationships are tested as it becomes obvious that everyone has things to hide.
I quite enjoyed the reading experience but overall this was just... okay? And yeah, mysteries and thrillers don't have to be anything spectacular but even by those standards this was pretty average. It was an enjoyable read, but I didn't like the ending. I don't know how much this was influenced by the constantly switching perspectives or even the translation, but what happened and the way it was written was a bit of a let down. I also felt like certain aspects of dysfunctional relationships were maybe brought up a bit too often. There was a lot of inner monologue stuff going on and given how plain yet unlikable all the characters were (not an inherently bad thing of course!) it just didn't do as much as I hoped. This could be the translation to some extent, but the same content (which I think could have been trimmed down with regards to some aspects of what was happening and very much fleshed out for others) would have been present in the original so it probably goes beyond that. While what was happening was interesting enough to keep my interest, I do think it could have been stronger.
