Set in Sweden a New Year's Eve party between old high school friends and their families, turns into a nightmare when one of the teenage daughters doesn't come home from their teenage party. The two parties happening at the same time mean it's hard to think of all the possible events that lead to the death. There are a lot of simmering tensions between the adults and children, both historical and recent which could all play a factor. This thriller is a family/friends drama with horrible outcomes when people's secrets and lies lead to destruction. We are steered towards a few potential suspects, but the ending and twists will definitely leave you guessing!

it took me forever to get through this book because it just couldn’t hold my attention. the plot itself had potential, but i just don’t think that it was executed in a way that would really keep readers engaged. also, the “big reveal” seemed really rushed and unfulfilling

This book had the potential to be great but failed me. To much added nonsense, and not enough mystery.

I'm not sure why I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. Perhaps because it was a slow build up or perhaps because its translated into English. I just didn't get the wow twist factor I wanted.

The book follows a group of friends in Sweden on New Year’s Eve, who have known each other for years, and are now parents, two of their children are best friends and they have persuaded their parents to let them throw a New Year’s Eve party without supervision. However, one of the girls goes missing, and it's soon obvious that the adults have secrets of their own.

The story Is told from different points of view to the lead up of New Year's Eve and the aftermath that follows. All of the main characters have a secret that could link them to the disappearance of Jennifer.

I was invested in the book as I wanted to know what happened to Jennifer. I did guess what happened before it was actually revealed but then this is where the book fell flat. I think the author could have done a great blindside to the story that you would not have seen coming as the ending just fell a bit flat.

Overall an OK read, a slow burn where the ending could have been a bit more of an unexpected twist.

Powieść obfituje w zwroty akcji lecz mimo yo jest momentami nudna i rozwleczona.
