This book gets 3 stars only because of my personal policy of rounding up partial stars.

I didn’t realize that this was the sequel to the Kommandant’s Girl or I would have read it sooner. I enjoyed the book. Yes, Marta was a little whiny at times as some other people in reviews noted, but overall I liked the plot and how it closed the loop with the other book.

I'd probably give this 4.5 stars if that were an option. I liked this one even more than the first (Kommandant's Girl). It was a quick & interesting read and full of suspense.

Wow. There were some things I saw coming, but some things I didn't. What an emotional rollercoaster. Really great full circle from The Kommadant's Girl.

Good companion story to Kommandant's Girl. It gets a little to soap opery for me to truly believe but it was a clever story overall involving the start of the cold war from Europe's point of view.

I had such high hopes for this because “The Kommandant’s Girl” is one of my favorite historical fiction reads. This started off right where that book ended which was really engaging and kept me interested but then the story took a turn that was, quite frankly, really unbelievable. I kept rolling my eyes listening to this book which is never a good sign. So yeah, 2 stars and I’m sad about it. Usually I love Pam Jenoff but this one was not it sis.
