In the beginnings of the first few of these Will Trent books KS has a whole statement about a character from another series and how she planned way ahead to kill off a main character because how could she leave that series with the two characters having a happy ending because those are boring….blah blah blah. I blew it off because I hadn’t read that series, didn’t plan on reading it and the carryover character hadn’t been introduced…now that person is here…not a main part of the story but obviously becomes more important in future books based on the various synopsis I read. The problem is by the end of this book I still hated how KS has been treating Angie, I was completely confused and frustrated by Faith….and then there’s Will…sigh…some authors aren’t meant to write sex scenes. That’s perfectly ok ESPECIALLY when this is not a romance and I’m not expecting any but I think what she was going for was angry sex and what we ended up getting was violence and dubious consent and it was not good. So I’m just not sure I want to continue.

I loved reading Karin Slaughter and this book may cool me to her books for awhile.

I didn't know this was part of a series when I picked this up. You can read this as a standalone and won't miss anything but there are spoilers for the previous books.
This was really fucked upespecially the autopsy scene and the description of Anna's body in the beginning .
The single sex scene was framed as sort of consensual but it did not feel that way. The entire police brutality part was also not something I liked.
Also, I was able to guess who the killer was in the prologue; but that's beside the point.
This was really fucked up

Listened to the audio. Yet another incredible installment in the Will Trent series! These are such addicting books, even with all that super messed up Slaughter plot :)
