Wow
This is maybe the their or fourth based on a loose interpretation of mythology and I loved it.
Its amazing so far and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Love this series
I love Skylers books! She puts so much depth and work into her characters.
Get ready for an Egyptian pantheon with bikers, drugs, and rival MCs. What's Nurse A going to do when the club responsible for her dad's death turns out to be her safe haven? Chaos and bloodshed with some hot and steamy times put in.

“Infiltrating our enemies put me in a pit full of vipers.”
As you can likely gather from the quote I shared above, this is a SUPER fun, dangerous read. Great character development, very interesting take/interpretation on gods and as a result a fun spin on mythology.
I read and enjoyed this book years ago and always thought it’d be great on audio so, it was my cue to listen when this came out on audio.
It is a ton of tropes all wrapped into one fast-paced, dangerous read:

Cursed Mates (Jackals’ Wrath MC #1) is a fated mates, why choose romance.
An interesting tale of fated mates with explosive chemistry, and non stop action. All of these characters pulled me in wanting to know what would happen next. A nail biting cliffhanger for sure!
Stella Rose and Matthew Winchester did a good job bringing these characters to life with this narration.

My thoughts are a bit ambivalent about this one. I like the unique magic system, though it also confuses me frequently because I’m not up on my Egyptian gods and their shenanigans. While some of this is explained in the book, my brain continues to get confused. Then there’s the whole fated mates issue. I’m not sure that’s what I would have termed them, but that’s what the author went with, so ok. They are more like lost loves trying to find their love over and over again with each reincarnation.
The characters themselves are intriguing. Slade is a royal douche canoe. He can take his attitude and shove it. But Aaliyah seems to both feed off it while giving it right back. Zethan I think is my favorite - he’s the tortured soul who is double cursed and unable to touch Aaliyah. Alaric is second - another tortured soul, though his is from past trauma and not a curse. Then there’s Castor - he’s suspicious of everyone and doesn’t trust easily. Then again, none of them really do. Aaliyah has her own agenda, which changes as the story progresses. She is tough and smart and brave.
Overall, this wasn’t a bad beginning to this series. I will be continuing on to see how things resolve. If you like a good MC, meddling gods, unique magic, why choose, tough FMC, then give this a go. It’s worth picking up. Check triggers as there are some darker themes involved.
