Great beginners guide to astrology. The Big 3 focus is really helpful for those who want to learn the “most important” identifiers in astrology. I was hoping with the Moon sign we’d also get information about moon phases, and also for some more in-depth knowledge around the other planets as well as the Sun, Moon, & Ascendant. She does break out aspects regarding the big 3 so there is definitely some overlap into how other planets in aspect to your big 3 can manifest or affect you. Overall, very easy to read and engaging, good basic knowledge any aspiring astrologer should know!

didn't love that her examples were maya angelou and frida kahlo? they were real people, not fictional characters, and it feels gross to read a white woman trying to make meaning out of their lives based on star charts.

Confusing to read an astrology chart but thought provoking and really made me engage in some deep self-reflection. Use Co-Star and go in the setting to place it on “whole sign” house systems instead of downloading her app though, cuz everything on the recommended app is under a paywall.

I love Chani's work (I've read her horoscopes for years), so I was excited that this was gifted to me for xmas. It's a quick read because in several sections you are meant to skip around to read about the aspects that are most relevant to your chart. This is definitely a 101 level astrology book, and it is quite a great introduction. I appreciated the reflections questions, and this is definitely a book that I will go back to multiple times.

A very enjoyable and well organized introduction to the three keys of a person's chart. I took like five pages of notes.

I've read it, but that this just the first step of this book. Reading it is just the key to opening the door; you have to decide to push it open and discover what's on the other side.

Though I feel like I have a good grip on the main aspects focused on in Nicholas's book (sun sign, moon sign, ascendant), what I most appreciated was how she always brings everything back to you as the reader. It isn't prescriptive, it's about your personal experience and how you can use those insights about yourself to become a better you. This is definitely more of an intro-to-astrology book, but I appreciated Nicholas's unique insights, and I feel like I understand my chart better than I have before.

Astrology is kind of misunderstood. It's not just woo-woo future predictions about your love life that you can read in Cosmo. It is based on much more than that. But it's also not a cure-all that will just tell you the answers about how to live and who to be. It's more about the process of learning to look at yourself in a different way. What you decide to do with that information is up to you.

I love that Nicholas leaves room for further exploration and discovery. I hope she writes another book on the next steps in understanding your chart!

I have become a huge Chani fan over this past year, so much so, that I asked for the 2025 astro planner for the holidays and am planning on using it as often and consistently as my ADHD brain will let me. I love her empathetic and accessible approach to astrology. It’s something I’ve dabbled in for years, but recently I’ve felt a strong calling to dive deeper into it. This book is one of the first that I’ve read that lays the basics and intermediates out plainly and in a very easy to consume fashion. I will definitely be buying a physical copy to keep on my bookshelf for future reference!
