Junie is always funny and silly (her animal voiceovers are her at her essence), but I was so impressed with the kindness in this ending that I thought it was perfectly timed for own rising first grader. They really do grow so much during the kindergarten year, and acceptance is one of the most important lessons.

Mickey Russo says, "I like that everyone copied Junie B Jones so that she could feel better. It made me feel good."

Thank you, Junie B. Jones and Barbara Park, for introducing me to the joys of reading, and for showing me that graduating kindergarten was not scary, but okay, and exciting, and fun, and not an end, but the beginning of a new chapter.

I read this book and the others in kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade, and Junie B. was there with me every step of the way. No, reading these books in kindergarten did not turn me into a bratty child or stand in the way of my language acquisition. In fact, these books showed me that reading was fun, and turned me into a voracious reader. In fact, at my kindergarten graduation, I was asked to read aloud a poem to the entire graduating class and their parents. It is one of mine and my parents' proudest moments.

As I ripped through these in kinder, first, and second, I also started on A-Z Mysteries ([b:The Absent Author|2216751|The Absent Author (A to Z Mysteries, #1)|Ron Roy|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1330112308l/2216751._SX50_.jpg|2222539]), Magic Tree House ([b:Night of the Ninjas|460087|Night of the Ninjas (Magic Tree House, #5)|Mary Pope Osborne|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320529909l/460087._SX50_.jpg|2083535]), and Judy Moody ([b:Judy Moody was in a Mood.
